It's residents are very, pro, CONservative Party. The below clip was taken from the Editorial section of today's GJ Daily Sentinel. I read the editorials every day and it's the same old ... "why should I have to pay for YOUR kids to go to school" to "why isn't somebody doing something about the homeless vagrancy in Orchard Mesa?" to "we need to recall that Liberal GAY, Governor for...". But today was different and kinda summed the political view point, and attitude, of MOST of the residents of the Grand Valley I've met and read of. So FAR. I just got here.

Forget policy and focus on soul in next election
Just imagine, if you can, having to seriously consider the danger in doing something so routine as going to the grocery store.
In the world we live in that thought might randomly cross our minds,
but what if that thought is constantly in the back of your mind. And
not a general concern because of the more dangerous world we live in but
because of the color of your skin.
We live in a relatively safe and peaceful city, but I imagine there are
people here who have these thoughts, people who are neighbors, friends
or family.
After
watching the news coverage of the overwhelming outpouring of support
for the final El Paso, Texas murder victim’s husband, I have to wonder
how our country came to such a sorry place.
We’re not perfect, but really? Mass murder in a Walmart, targeting a
particular group of people in the United States of America because of
their ethnicity?
That should terrify all of us.
We have turned a dangerous corner in this country in the last three years.
We all need to think about what we can do to turn this around or the country that we love will be unrecognizable.
There is no place for white nationalist cowards, thugs and bullies in
this country and that starts in the White House and with the Republicans
in the Congress who condone this behavior by looking the other way.
This isn’t about politics. It’s about how we want to see ourselves as
human beings. What about the many Democrats running for president?
How many of them have much to say about this problem? Why isn’t white
nationalism and domestic terrorism front and center for every politician
in the country? They certainly have the attention of anyone who wants
to make an informed decision next November.
The economy, health care for all and the many issues tossed about
won’t matter much if we lose the heart of what makes us a great country.
Don’t look the other way, stand up against the cancer that is oozing
through this country, push back and vote!

We have an opportunity to get the government we deserve
A recent letter claimed Democrats just want to hate Trump. Actually what Democrats want is their country back.
Trump is just an annoyance. It would also be nice if Democrats and
Republicans could discuss the issues calmly with facts, not opinions.
Like draining the swamp versus this administration with record
criminal indictments, highest number of resignations and vacancies in
key positions.
Like
Trump’s business experience with major business failures, and multiple
bankruptcies and ruining our farmers’ markets. Like keeping government
out of their faces. Call me a Libtard, but I personally prefer clean
drinking water without coal pollution. Like broken promises: “I’ll
reduce the national debt” versus a $4 trillion increase. “I won’t have
time to golf” versus 100 trips to his golf courses where he earns money
from taxpayers who pay for his golf.
It is time for all of us to come together to get what we deserve. We
deserve protection from climate change, safety from assault rifles,
opportunities for good jobs, health care and renewed confidence in
America.

ReplyDeleteYOUR weather is Grand here to Happy Valley, 'Fly, ol' Pard, but I'm waiting for Mark, the swamp cooler repairman guy to get here with a new fan motor for mine. My weather is tolerable, though, even with it down. I cannot imagine being able to take these temperatures without A/C back wherever it was I used to live with the 50-60% humidity. My big ass would have checked into a motel day before yesterday! So yeah ... the weather has been grand since I got here to Happy Valley. I reckon ...

ReplyDeleteAs for the weather, it's averaged 105 HI for weeks with our high humdittity, and my new meds give me the hot flashes. I sit with my little family sweating my ass off while wishing I was in the high-and-dry with you. Plagerizing the boys over to the Fire Sign T., I wonder, "How can I be in two places at once when I'm not anywhere at all?"
Food for thought and shoes for industry, both. By the way. I was actually accused as supplying impetus to the asshole from just south of here for driving to El Paso to shoot up a Walmart. Really. I guess "Half a watt goes in there--comes out here" remains a truism.
I think too many of these brains are more than half-baked. Therefore, I still say:
